I love Matt Redman’s music. Even more, I love his heart for worship. Matt’s book, The Unquenchable Worshipper: Coming Back to the Heart of Worship, powerfully challenges us to seek out and worship the audience of One. The title still just grabs me, “The Unquenchable Worshipper”. Does that describe me? (Yep, in the UK they spell that with two ‘p’s…which I kind of like.) Find The Unquenchable Worshipper here.

Matt Redman poured more powerful thoughts on worship into his next book, Face Down. As the title again implies, he talks about how worship begins with the heart postured in reverent submission and then takes us into a place of wonder, reverence, and mystery. I first knew of Louie Giglio as a worship artist, but he is an incredible teacher. I love his  podcasts and books, including this one, The Air I Breathe: Worship as a Way of Life. He helps us see that all of life can be our delighted response to God in worship. It’s what we were created to do! You can check out The Air I Breathe .

I begin my book with a quote from A.W. Tozer’s, Whatever Happened to Worship?: A Call to True Worship. He tells it like he sees it. He tells it like it is. This book is a compilation of messages on worship given by Tozer, and I can promise you that his church understood worship. How blessed we are that one of our most prolific Christian authors wrote a book on worship. In Real Worship: Playground, Battle Ground, or Holy Ground? Warren Wiersbe masterfully defines four elements of worship – wonder, witness, warfare, and wisdom – giving every point strong Biblical foundation. People are genuinely interested in learning more about you, so don’t be afraid to share personal anecdotes to create a more friendly quality.

The Psalms are rich with God’s call to us to be worshipers. And Warren Wiersbe’s commentary on Psalms 1 – 89 in his book, Be Worshipful: Glorifying God for Who He Is, is a gift to those of us who love getting as much out of each psalm as we can.
